There is a 2002 Superhawk for sale near me. It has 14,000 miles and looks to be in good shape. He wants $3999. What kind of problems should I look for ? I know some years have rectifier problems and cam chain tensioner maladies. I do not want to buy a troubled bike ! Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Lee.

the rr just needs to be replaced either with the new honda part or with a R1 R6 unit.

The cct's are hit and miss so most people just replace them before there are issues. If you do both of these things right when you get it the superhawk will be pretty much trouble free asside from the usual maintenance.

If you do the work yourself both of these issues are relatively inexpensive. Also its worth checking on this bike to see if it has already been done, then your set.

 

besides the 2 mentioned issues and poor fuel range (Honda should have put a bigger tank on these!) they are normally very good and reliable.

 

i ain't no expert, but i am getting an 02 tomorrow for $2500. it has 6k miles on it stock except for the new tires. it has been down and repaired not too bad damage just cosmetic.
