***OFFICAL LETS TALK ABOUT SHAYNE BIKE THREAD***
well after seeing almost a dozen different posts hijacked by people trying to find out more info on shayne's beautiful blue superhawk. lets have a place to talk about his mirrors, rotors, wheels, ceramic coatings, positives and negatives, etc. yada yada yada. well lets hear it and see if this thread takes off.
i'll start with, are the fork lowers and swingarm ceramic coated? or are they just fully polished and clear coated?

Funny, after hijacking another thread to ask Shayne about his bike, I sent him a PM to find out the crinkle coat process he used...... Looks like I'm just one of many curious about all the work he's done.

Very sweet ride I like it.
And really it not's hard to maintain if you keep it up as you ride a clean bike is not hard to keep up as long as you don't let it get too bad. Just 10-20 minutes of clean-up after a days riding will keep her looking nice and a good wash/wipe/polish once a week or more willl keep her just as purrrty.

Shayne's bike is concourse perfect. I don't think he rides it much but there is no denying the build. It really is gorgeous but I wouldn't drive it to the hardware store.

Yep, i'm not taking anything from him as it is a nice bike for someone, just not me. It's kinda like me going and buying a new $40k truck and taking it down to the ranch where i know it will get a couple flats and possibly a gate ding in the side of it the first time out.

The crinkle coat looks like powder coating to me. We do that same texture at work sometimes.

Thanks for the comments guys.
All the ally you see on the bike is polished, and then clear powder coated. Only the header pipe is ceramic coated.
The engine finish is paint, not powder coat, and is actually from a spray can! It turn out pretty good if you are careful with your preparation, like all paint.
As this bike was built to ride, I made sure that it was easy to look after. The fact that I do not have any bare ally to polish, and that all surfaces are painted or powdercoated, means that it is not much more work to look after than a normal bike. Of course all these surfaces need to be cleaned properly. Standard wheels being black, are much easier to clean than mine for example.
The mirrors are THE part that I get asked about more than anything else. I guess that is because getting good mirrors for the VTR is almost impossible. In the end I decided to make my own. They are an aftermarket mirror that that have been adapted to fit the standard Honda angled mount. Not an easy job, as it was difficult to match things up nicely so they looked right.

It is a custom made screen that was done to suit my modified fairing.
And someone has asked me about the wheels too. For those of you that don't know the story, they were made by a manufacturer in the US that went broke after I paid for them. It was a big problem to finally get both of them, and then do the work to make them fit, because things hasd been stuffed up. Even if they were still in business I could not reccommend them to anyone!
