Just a poll to fire up everybody on the site. Since the nation is almost split 50/50 just wanted to see what people have to say.

Okay, no replies for 2 hours. I guess we're all voting for McCain, since Nobama would probably outlaw motorcycles with more than 15 hp because they're politically incorrect.

I'd have a hard time believing that the McCain will win. I can't imagine the country risking another 4 years in the direction that we've been heading. The Republican party needs to clean house big time. The Republican philosophy is great and all but nobody in the upper end of the party is practicing it at all. They're just messing with the rules to make themselves richer.

I did like Obama but his pick of Biden for VP sucks. You can't get more "good 'ol boy" than Biden. His energy plan sucks too. Can you say $6 gas?

McCain the war hero is deserving. He has served America well. Plus Palin is a MILF. I'm leaning toward McCain.

A poll here would be interesting.

It boils down to where do you want your tax money to go to
Obama and the worthless people sucking the welfare system dry or McCain and the war effort.

I won't vote for any of those chumps. There is no practical difference between the socialist Obama and the socialist McCain who never misses an opportunity to sell this country out and co-sponsor legislation with Democrats like Feingold, Kennedy, Liebermann, Edwards.
Honestly, deciding between those two is like deciding who was worse between John Wayne Gacy or Jeffrey Dahmer; either way you're dead.
Nader's somewhat better, but he's still a foundation funded one worlder.
Chuck Baldwin is preferable to all these guys.

I'm not participating in any more polls until one of the options is 'None of the Above'!

you have to start a new thread and set up the poll - right now people can only vote for 04 candidates - (which I guess are essentially the same as 08) so I think people are ignoring it, except for the chance to spout our own close and simple minded repeat what we hear sh%%$$&t.
I always vote the same way, as I believe in certain principles as I'm sure the vast majority of people here do the same. We are NOT the ones who decide elections as long as we vote. There are, I read, about 15% of the country that genuinely votes either party for the top election spot. They are the ones who either are undecided and genuinely think about what is being offered, or they vote purely on personality or commercial soundbites -regardless they are the people who decide who is president - not the rest of us who reduce it to these simple thoughts:
DEMOCRAT: try to provide equal opportunity and a chance for those who are born into less fortunate situations or in old age need help (dem view) or giving welfare handouts to no-good low-lifes who just need to take care of themselves or their families should, or let them rot; no morals, screwing up the country, abortionists (REPUB view)
REPUBLICAN: less government, stay out of our lives I can take care of myself - protect the country, encourage business and reduce beauracracy (REPUB view) or Protect your own self interest, ignore the fact that the lowest rung on the ladder affects us all, hyperreligious (and its OK to legislate that one, otherwise stay out of our lives) (DEM view)

I was just testing the waters.

Yes it is unfortunate that the majority of voters base their choice on personalities or sound bites rather than doing the research from multiple sources. The Kennedy connection with McCain is not desirable, as are some other issues, but the other choice is to lead this country towards Socialism. I believe in personal responsibility. I've worn a helmet while riding for the last 27 years, not because the law tells me I have to, but because I want to. I do not like the idea of a Nanny government.

But bottom line is that either way things probably won't be much different regardless of who gets elected. But you have to admit that Palin is pretty hot.

Hey, I noticed Bush got 3 more votes. Pretty good for someone with only a 30% approval rating.

I have no idea who Birk is but sounds like a good plan to me. makes more
sense that most.
I'm against the $85,000,000, 000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000, 000 to
America in a "We Deserve it Dividend".
To make the math simple, let's assume there are
200,000,000 bona fide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man,
woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18
and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals
$425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
"We Deserve It" Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000, 000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their
pocket.
A husband and wife have $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your
family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care
improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including
the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other
company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in
our Armed Forces.
If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of
trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" )economic incentive that is
being proposed by one of our candidates for President.
If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every
adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG.
Liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.
Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the
$85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG
or in Washington DC.
And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion
because
$25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.
Kindest personal regards,
Birk

I hate to tell you this, but 85 billion divided by 200 million is not $425,000.00

it is $425.00. FOUR HUNDERED AND TEWNTY FIVE DOLLARS. Or, after taxes? Two hundred ninety-seven dollars and fifty cents.

Yeah, it is $425. Either way, why the hell should we have to pay for that? Infuriating....

Must be using 85 million instead of billion.

Well, I already gave AIG about $15,000 in the past 10 years, and they've only given me $1800 in claims.
