Project of the week

So I had a guy call last week with a little project for me.

He had started on a bike but ran out of time and\or inspiration to finish it.

So he dropped off this:

Project of the week-gs1.jpg

and this:

Project of the week-gs2.jpg

and then a whole lot of bits:

Project of the week-gs3.jpg

and more bits:

Project of the week-gs4.jpg

With the instructions "Make it work" so now to see what i can come up with.

It's not a "cafe" bike per say as it is a GS1100 but it will have a '88 GSRX1100 front end and clip-ons so it should be pretty fun for a big ol' heavy thing......

Hey Top, I restored a 1982 GS1100GL for my youngest brother a year ago. I will put up some pictures of the final produce. And if you need any option, I believe may still have some extra parts...

Should be done in a week or two all depends how much time I can free up to put into it.

A week or two! I've never done anything like this. Do you build it and hope it runs or do you run it and hope it builds? I guess in this case that motor wouldn't be to difficult to get back out but...what do you do if you put it together and find internal issues? Can you just turn it, compression test it etc. and get a good idea of the internals? I'd be intimidated but some day I really really want to do a full build.

Nice collection of bungies Mike.

I like that chrome 4 into 1 header. Can't wait to see the finished product. Those GS's always looked nice with lower than stock bars.
