All the Non-libs are going to love this one!!

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part
of
North Dakota state after a snowstorm.

WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here, in the Northern Plains, we just recovered from a Historic
event--- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" ---
with
a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that
broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of
motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of
communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI:

George Bush did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton did not visit

Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5
snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No Larry King, No Bill O'Reilly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No
Geraldo
Rivera.

No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Streisand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.
Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a
penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments
delivered
it to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman
lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die."

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out
of a
mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades
votes for
'sittin at home' checks.

Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen
this
early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about
48
degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."

It does seem that way, at least to me.

I hope this gets passed on.

Maybe SOME people will get the message. The world does Not owe you a
living

I'd rather have 44" of snow fall on my house than have my house and all of its contents blown away by a hurricane. How many people died in this snowstorm as opposed to how many Hurricane Katrina killed? The Snow will melt and your house will be there, I can't say the same for a hurricane damaged house. I agree welfare is b.s and there is a large population of people who expect something for nothing. But this really is comparing apples to oranges.

Funny, I'm sure people EXPECTED and DEMANDED that their Local, County, and State governments break out the snow plows and salt/ice trucks.

As skinnyj said... Apples to Oranges comparison. Let's flood their houses with toxic water 8-12 feet deep, have them lose EVERYTHING, house, car, clothes, all personal effects/belongings, and take away their workplace so they have no job, etc, and see if they are so 'stoic' then. I think then they would be asking for, expecting and eventually DEMANDING aid/help/assistance.

I lived in RURAL minnasnowduh (the state where nothing is allowed) for over 20 years, and trust me, every year when the river valleys/low lying areas would flood, people would cry for aid. Then the same stupid people would rebuild in the same damn spot, and cry again the next year, or the year after when it flooded again. Morons live everywhere, and they demand the same things...everywhere.

Obviously I've been through a few hurricanes here and I've also been through a few blizzards in Connecticut as well. Believe me the two are VERY different, we work or die here as well but when you build a city like N.O. in the shape of a bowl and it fills up well you're pretty much F'D. People do strange things when survival is your #1 need. Unlike a blizzard where you can melt water to drink, there is NO water unless you have the brains and money to be prepared. No trash pickup, no plows, no open resturant when they're under 12 feet of standing water. Now if I was in charge of THAT city I wouldn't have put the freaking generators in the freaking basement,(DUH how about the roof instead), but for our government to claim they didn't know what was going to happen was flat out B.S.!!!

Believe me when the hurricanes hit us one after another we were prepared as well as we could and we did a chit load of work in the sweltering heat of summer cutting down trees in the roads and lots of other debris cleanup. But N.O. and the gulf coast was a defferent animal all together, those houses weren't built to withstand those winds, which were sustained winds over 100mph not gust of 90. A lot of people lost EVRYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING, like some have alredy said apples and oranges.

You know, I'm sorry, I have also been exposed to both... I have lived through several Hurricans as well...I think the point this guy is tring to make is that for the most part the Morons in N.O. cried for the Gov to do something about what happened, and blamed them for everything, not wanting to take responsiblity for where they live...If I build a house in a bowl, and there is the slightest possibility of something like that happening, well I guess I deserve what happens...Now the difference is I don't expect a hand out...If people pull together and help each other than that is different....but to react the way certain people did in N.O. is unacceptable to me...

Anyway, I think you guys are missing the point...but whatever....it's not worth anymore of my time....

Just one other point while I'm here, we do pay taxes right? Well what are we paying for if we get nothing in return when people are in need? Same as Insurance, you pay and pay and then when you need help they screw you on the claim and then bitch when you didn't fix EVERYTHING. Sorry but we've had 3 people from ins. come by and harass us because we didn't fix everything when they only gave us enough money to fix 1 thing! Sorry sore subject, rant over.

here is my two cents. what is the proper role of government? steel from the rich give to the poor? if the government is always called upon to handle such situations, what happens to the common brotherhood that threads us together? i felt for the victims of katrina. i feel for the victims of this storm(although this is the first i have heard of it).

I don't begrudge the use of aid...But when it is misused then I have a problem with it....superhawk22 I feel for you guys down there, I really do, but I would not compare Florida to what happened in N.O. to put it mildly there was a bunch of trash that the storm need to clear out, unfortunatly for surrounding states, they came and camped out and cause sooooo many problems...

There was a shelter in McKinney, It was closed in 3 days because of prositution and drug dealing that those ******* brought to the area...There are countless other stories I could tell, and we were a long ways away from the point of origin....

Ok, I am done...

I will agree with you there, As I don't pick on the rich, cause they earned it, they should not be receiving SS....My mother barley has enough to survive these days, after paying in all of her life...Now don't get me wrong, she could have gone to school gotten a great job and made her retirement,...but alas, she was a stay at home mother, who after 34 years of being with my father, he left her high in dry....Not cool...

Any way I can agree with your liberal *** on that one anyway

Agreed... in the end, all gov't is largely about people who want to impose their will on other people.

It was said that after all of the people in N.O. were relocated N.O. was the safest city in the country. No crime in the big easey any more. I don't think a snow storm can do that but it's worth a try.

I built my first house on a swamp and it sunk, I built my second house on top of the first and it sunk but the third time it stayed up and they said it couldn't be done. "Monty Python"
