Wanted: VTR Front Fork or 900, 929/954, or 1000rr front end

Hey guys,

Well, I laid my 98 VTR into a guard rail at about 25 mph (thank you gravel!) and it bent my forks back beyond repair.

I've been looking at what it takes to convert the front end into a Fireblade, but that requires that I get pretty much everything. So, as I see it, there are 2 options:

1) Stock VTR, nothing but the forks themselves (or maybe even just the sliders)

2) Complete front end from any Fireblade: 900/929/954/1000 Sell me your mod! I need everything (forks, triples, clipons, brakes, rotors, and wheel but will consider partial kits.

Please let me know! I'm going crazy not riding and it hasnt been a week.

Thanks-

Robert Combier

Thanks guys for the offers. I actually do need a set of fairings too, but that is less urgent since I'm foaming at the mouth without a running bike.

I actually don't need a complete VTR front end. My wheel, brakes, bars, etc are all fine. If I'm going to keep it stock, then all I need now is the forks themselves, and maybe the triples if they are tweaked. so, let me know if any of you would be up for selling the forks alone.

Otherwise, if I go for the conversion, I need everything.

Cheers,
Robert

You're gonna need triples. They are not very strong, and probably bent before your forks did.

No, here's a 3rd option:

You can get a used set with triples for $200-300.

Awesome. Look at that.

I'm surprised I didnt find this thread through the searches I was doing..
Quick questions:

1) You said you had VFR rotors/wheel + GSXR brakes on your shawk, and that it fit the F4i forks. Are you sure everything will bolt on to my stock sHawk brakes?

2) What about a 600rr front end?

3) You settled on 28mm of depth in the triples. Wouldnt that be enough to mount F4i clipons on top?

Thanks for the tip. So far it seems to be the best option, and I will hold off on the VTR forks on eBay for $133.

Cheers,
Robert

search for a thread started by me about the same topic

you can use the stock wheel, brakes, and use f4i clip ons with 28mm fork height

Yes, VTR brakes bolted on to VFR wheel. I ran wheel on stock forks and brakes first. I then added gsxr brakes to stock forks with vfr wheel/vtr rotors. See? It all mixed and match. Oh, also used vtr axle and spacers in all above combo's.

2) What about a 600rr front end?

Didn't try as it uses different steering neck bearings/races. Plus I "think" they are alot shorter.

I never tried as I prefer a superbike bar mount. A/C cobra says yes they will fit.

All-
Thanks for your responses... I'm sure they will be helpful to others as well. I've decided on the stock setup for now, hopefully my bike will be running soon.

Big thanks out to windaddiction for the hook up.
