Testing the waters....SSS Superhawk for sale

I bought this bike last year...and as much as I love it, I am thinking about selling it. I just had my second child and my riding time has diminished. I cant see just leaving the bike in the garage.

I am the third owner of this machine. All the work was done by a forum member prior to selling it to me. The bike has never been wrecked. The only thing that happened was it fell off the kick stand in my driveway. The damage consisted of a cracked fairing, scratched exhaust, broken shifter peg and scratched handlebar end.

I have replaced everything with new parts, to include a brand new devil high mount exhaust and brand new mario nava fairings. The new paint on the bike is 9.9 out of 10. There is only 1 imperfection that if I keep the bike, It will be going back to be fixed. (see pic)

I will include a list off all modifications to the motorcycle that were given to me when I bought it.

Pair and canister removed
VFR bars
Single Sided Exhaust
Single sided swingarm conversion
Front forks raised 25mm in the triples to sharpen steering
K-N filter
Jet kit

The bike also comes with a rear tail section made by mario nava that I also have along with the stock rear section.

The price is $6,000//My price is nego//but I really dont need to sell it, so im not going to give it away.

its a 1998 with 14k miles

The bike is also located in northern virginia. I will ship but only after money is safely in my account. I will allow test rides with cold hard cash in my hand.

If you have any questions, dont be hesitant to ask.

thanks

eric

the honda is painted in, its not a sticker.

nava tail section

slight imperfection in the paint (where the 2 panels connect in the top corner)

wow

That is one beautiful motorcycle. Wish you well in selling. Mixed feelings about that always, but I have 4 kids myself and didn't ride much till they were adults. HondaJim, don't even make me break out the drummer jokes. I hang with a lot of musicians and my youngest daughters boyfriend is a drummer. It ain't pretty!!!

I've heard every drummer joke imaginable. It's bass players who suck.

Very nice set up and nicely done. 6K may be a bit much. When you do mods on anything you really can't expect to get much of that expense back. It is sweet though. I will give you that much. I had to look at the pics several times. I love the single swing arm. Was that a direct change or were there fitment mods you had to do?

I swear i see a steering stabilizer stickin out the right side not listed as a mod or maybe its something different. Was curious does the SSS cause any diff in handling ?

yea...it is a steering dampner. The po put it on. The SSS conversion adds 1.5 inches to the wheelbase that I think improves handling.

Nothing says 'neglected bike' to me like a rusty chain...

Also agree that $6K might be a little optimistic. It does look sweet tho'.

Good Luck!

I love the SSS.....this is Brian Light's old bike, right?
I'm currently amassing parts for just such a modification myself.....I wish you'd been selling this a year ago, I'd be buying.
Good luck with the sale.

I was wondering if you were on the forum. I called you a few weeks ago about it. Wish I could help you out. I have a RC51 I could offer in trade?

Unfortunately rare bikes can be difficult to sell in a market full of race replicas under $5k. You may try lowering the price a bit. I learned the hard way 10,000 times that motorcycles are not good investment decisions.

You could also consider trading down with someone looking for a bigger bike and struggling to sell their smaller one. You still have a bike, but you have money in the pocket as well.

But keep advertising, I will keep an eye out for potential buyers as well. Someone will see it and fall in love and be very happy to give your asking price.

Good luck!

Appreciate it......I have been thinking about a trade, but as nice as the RC51 is, Im looking more towards the Ducati if i would trade it. Like a nice 916, 996 or even a 748. I know that I would have to come up with a little green if it was for the 9 series, but then it might be worth it.

Since i love the SSS look.

I used to own a 916 and regret ever selling it. I will prob regret selling this one, but for the time being, I have other responsibilities I need to address. Im sure in the next few years, I will buy another v-twin.

thanks for looking out.

Yeah, I got all excited by the SSS, but the rust and dirt (I get medieval on cleaning when I post FS pics) are a bit of a turn off too. In my area Superhawks don't sell too well, and there are pristine/lightly used ones going for $4K.

The reason it was dirty was it just got out of the shop. Was there for 3 months, which didnt help with the chain either. Anyway....Got the 16k service done, new chain and sproket, and its going back in for paint to fix the issues i had with the last shop. So it looks a lot better now...
