2001 Honda Superhawk VTR1000 Erion Red
It is with a heavy heart that I do this... But the show must go on...
Bike is in Caldwell, Idaho, just west of Boise. If you fly in to Boise I will pick you up at the airport and you can ride it home...
2001 Honda Superhawk VTR1000 Erion V Twin Red
This has been the best bike I have ever owned. Way more character than any other bike I have ridden. It wheelies everywhere (assuming you want to), but is also super comfortable. Wonderful to look at, I often find myself staring at it in the garage. . .
I got this bike from my father. He was 59 when I got it from him, and still riding it! Since I have owned it I have had nearly everything powdercoated black, and done ALL the reliability updates (installed manual cam chain tensioners, a MOSFET regulator/rectifier, and more).
Valve clearances were just checked a couple thousand miles ago, and set to stock spec with new shims (I did the work). New tires and battery just installed. Forks just rebuilt with heavier springs and in my opinion the best oil. Front end dampening now matches the rear, very balanced bike, setup for about a 160lb rider.
It's a bit cold blooded (48mm carbs, biggest carbs Honda ever put on a motorcycle), but once the coolant temperature reaches about 125 on the digital readout it is ready to go with no more choke.
Short gearing means lots of fun from stoplight to stoplight, and no vibrations in top gear on the freeway, just a nice riding bike. Super quick bike, I have no doubt it would post mid to high 10s in the quarter mile.
No test rides. . . If you are looking at this bike you know what it is, and by looking at the list of things I have done can probably tell how amazing the bike is. . . Whatever you are imagining is true, it is a fantastic bike.
This bike just won VTR of the Month on the Superhawk Forum (March 2016)

Three minutes after you posted it, it is flagged for removal. You must have pissed someone off on Craigslist and they want to mess with you.
How much are you asking for the bike?
EDIT: Nevermind, I see you haven't edited your original posting with the new address.

Best of luck with the sell James. I think you are 100% good on price. We all know how much love was put into this hawk... where it came from etc. Stay firm my friend and,
By all means hang out with us once in a while. Let us know what ya get to replace the old bird. I am right with ya but, for now I just can't even think about letting her go, even though I've found a more comfortable, more modern steed. Thing is, it's been sooo damn reliable (ie faithful), how could I?

Jump that price up another 4k and keep the lady happy that you are "trying to sell it."
I know I have bad jokes. Hate to see you part ways with it but I understand. Done it too many times with bikes I swore I would never get rid of yet I quit riding for almost 8 years before buying the hawk I have.
Best wishes for your future endeavors.

The end of an era...
Delivered the Superhawk to its happy new owner today. A good friend of mine from church who I ride with regularly... He and his father are collectors who have owned 150+ motorcycles. Quite honored to have them want the bike.
I'll stick around and hope the new owner "dave" will chime in soon.

Yep. I'm sure i'll be able to ride it whenever i want. He would probably sell it back to me even...
He told me he plans to put new fairings on it
Guess it will keep getting better, which makes me happy.
James
P.S. I'll post a thread soon with all the hardware sizes i've found for the bike, and the best source for polished stainless fasteners.

Looks comfy! But WOW, what a difference. I don't think I'll ever be ready to shift gears to that style bike. I had to test ride an 03 Roadstar Warrior after changing tires today. The forward foot position is sooo un-natural for me. Don't like it.
Pretty clean looking bike James. The Mrs. will be happy!

And that's exactly why I bought it... My wife and I have been riding together since we met. When she tells me she doesn't want to ride anymore because the bike isn't comfy for her, that is a major red flag for me.
I decided to give away some of myself, and try this. Better to be less selfish and have my wife ride with me is my reasoning...
Anyway... Motorcycles are like hair. If ya don't like it, change it

I considered that... But part of this transition is to limit my being reckless... The Superhawk was literally being wheelied through downtown, turned at obscene angles (both tires are worn to the outer edge)... The V-Star will help me be less illegal...
Another aspect to a Sport Tourer is the constant frustration that it doesn't turn as well as a pure sportbike, or doesn't wheelie as well, or isn't as light... etc... With the V-Star I have zero expectations of it being anything remotely resembling my Superhawk, or CBR900RR, or R6, or ZX-7R...
It's a comfy way for my wife and I to spend time together and enjoy the scenery.
