Hi, my rear shock is leaking so i am looking for replacement.
I can get R6 98-02 rear shock for cheap. Will it fit the Hawk cusion brackets?
I know the r6 shock is shorter but i can make custom upper bracket to deal with it, but i am not sure if it will fit on the down end.

On the left is r6 shock, on the right unknown shock, just this is the only picture i could find.

 

I ran a WP shock that was originally for an R6 on my VTR for several years. It took a decent amount of custom work to make it fit. The big kicker was that I could rotate the reservoir on the WP shock and that allowed it to fit. A stock R6 shock doesn't have this feature so I'm going to say that it won't work. Sorry.


Side note: there are lots of other problems too, like the spring and valving being way, way, way off for the VTR. By the time you got that sorted and all of the other custom parts figured out you would have spent a lot of extra time and money for no real gain.
