under charging

Hey guys , I've had my vtr for approx 8 months now , loving it , and I've quietly been using the forum to check various things , this is a great resource and you have been 100% right on for me with every problem . I realize there are a bunch of threads on charging , however mine seems different , my bike charges great at idle , 13.5 and drops to between 12.7 and 13 at 5000 rpm is this still the r/r or do I maybe have something else going on . oh ya I checked this because the ride in in the morning is about 30 min , I park the bike outback to open up and go back to move it a couple of minutes later and it wont start . even with the new battery . thanx

BRYAN

More than likely, sometimes the R/R shows up with different symptoms. Do a search and somewhere on here is a test that will rule out everything else.

Yup, the R/R fails in either two ways. One bad and the other really bad. you got the lesser of two evils. The overcharging r/r eats batteries, wiring, lights, you name it, and can literally go up in smoke. You've got the "silent killer" kind. LOL.

Mine has done the same thing for years. I have never figured out what's causing it, or if it's even a problem at all. I've shrugged it off, because three years later it's still going strong. Now where's that wood to knock on...
