A test ride kinda day

I did 3 test rides today...

Triumph Speed w/arrow & recal

KTM Superduke 990

Buell Ulysses...

Very interesting... even though my VTR turned 10 the only thing for now that may make me happy is the following..

An OEM VTR top triple clamp (or another anyone knows would be even better) to play with for a riser/tubular bar/fairng shave conversion, and

Buell footpegs (I saw at least 2 different but similar styles today).

Can anyone offer anything? There was a post I never heard back about the Buell pegs + shpg?

If enough of you are interested, I'll post my test ride opinions...

Indeed, tell us how you found the rides. The Superduke has intrigued me for some time, as has the Triumph Sprint, the speed is just too ugly.. lol.

I'll see when I can summarize...

But if the Sprint is as well put together as the Speed, its very good and a good buy, very Niponese if you know what I mean. The Speed doesnt have plastic to hide the essentials and I dont care about the "architecture" other than wind protection, which is a few bolts away, as you cant see the bits from the saddle.

I'm an engineer first and designer second, if that makes sense.

I'm curious as well. I almost bought a Buell, xb9 citycross, when I ended up with the SH. Still something about the Buells I like. I think it's partially the forward thinking engineering (no, not the motor) and fun factor.

The speed is a beautiful bike, in my lowly opinion. Love the headlights, sss, and short wheelbase. Supposed to be one of the greatest wheelie bikes around. But found it a bit buzzy. Still like my v-twins.

As for the Duke, no experience, but I'd love to try one. Also really wanna ride the new Ducati SuperMoto. The smallest looking 1100 I've ever seen. Looks like a 450 in terms of overall bike shape.

The point of my thread (and I will post my test ride impressions for all 3), is that I need a top triple clamp to play with for a bar conversion so I can go back to OEM when desired.

I test rode a Superduke today. AMAZING! It feels like a dirtbike, excellent suspension, and very light. The only thing I didn't get to do was high speed like above 80mph. Not having any wind protection concerns me and would take away from the practicality of the bike.

Very fun though and I wouldn't mind making it my next bike if I sell the RC51. I'm still waiting for the Superhawk to have some competition. I guess a bike will never be made to match it...

depending on how cheaply you're trying to go, the spiegler kit sells a top triple set for bars that either replaces or sits atop the stock clamp (can't remember which) and works very well.
