Something is Draining my Battery

What up Hawk Lovers,

Bear with me as I am new to the site. Here is my problem: I install a new battery in the bike (have done it several times with all high performance batteries straight from the dealership-so it is not the battery) and it starts/runs fine. I come back out roughly 5-6 hours later and the batt is dead. I probably need to get an electrical diagram of the bike but until then, does anyone have any ideas or had this problem before. Between lack of funds and knowledge, its been more than a year since me and my baby have been on a good ride together. If you got anything tangible, please let me know....Thanks....Rob

sounds like the r/r is dying. Plenty of info on that just search "r/r".

It stands for voltage regulator rectifier basically it isn't allowing very much voltage through to the battery so after a ride the battery is dead. It can sometimes be hit and miss too. I know when mine went out I would come back to a dead battery jump it get some gas and the bike would start, then the next morning nothing.

Kills battery when it's sitting? Parasitic draw. If you have more time than tools and knowledge start pulling one fuse at a time until you find the one that kills it. Wiring diagram is in the manual which you can download from the Knowledge Base here. Do you own a meter?

The R/R is the parasitic draw. Almost without a doubt.

Mine used to display similar symptoms. But it would take a day or two till dead battery rather than a few hours.
