So, my SH runs great, does everything well. I love it. It has one problem though.

When I purchased it, it had PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome). I got the carbs cleaned, and replaced all fluids filters etc. She ran great. When I got her back from the shop, the idle was about 1200rpm. Since summer it has slowly been creeping higher and higher. Now, it is almost 2000rpm after she is warm. It is almost like the choke is out, but the cable is fully closed.

I am fairly handy, but no mechanical genius. Just wondering if there's anything I can try to do before returning her to my mechanic. I don't want to screw up anything. Thanks for any advice.

 

Begin with the basics. Bring idle back down, and see he she runs. You may also want to check that choke cable again, may be stuck open. Also, throttle cable. Check your throttle to be be sure returns correctly.

There may be more to this then meets the eye. If syptoms persist, I would
dig back into the carbs, and refresh them again. Bike shop may have said they did them, and just sprayed carb cleaner into them.

Awesome... thanks guys. Should I initially go right to see how many turns out each screw is, then left to back them back them back out to a lower setting? Say, go in three and a half and back them out three?

 

There's only one idle screw and it's a thumb screw... inside the right triangle of your bike. Just back it out until the idle is correct and go from there. No reason to count turns or anything as it is not a mixture setting or anything.

I looked around and couldn't see one anywhere, I though the adjustment might be the pilot jet screw on the carb. That will make my life easier... and also make me feel dumb for not being able to find it. I think I just went full retard...
