Seat Hooks

I finally got tired of wrestling with the seat on my 2000 Hawk today and removed both "hold down hooks," leaving the seat secured by the tab in front and the lock at the back. I can't tell any difference at all in the feel or security/stability of the seat, and it sure makes it easy to remove the seat. Can anyone think of a compelling reason why I shouldn't operate without the hooks? Thanks.

saige is on a distinguished road
the only thing i could think of is it is easier to break into by pulling really hard upwards in the center of the seat.

The better way to do it is to take a file and give the hooks just a bit more clearance. Funny, if you look at the Post Whoring Newbie Thread that's how that thread originally got started. Now it has over 27000 posts! You should read the whole thing! No, not really.

My Sargent seat slides on and off with ease, unlike the stock seat.
