Seafoam????

Has anyone ran Seafoam through the gastank on here? I heard this stuff is pretty good at cleaning out gunk and will help the bike run smoother. If so how much of the can did you use?

Any feed back on if its ok to use or not.

Thanks..

Randman uses a couple capfuls at each fill. Something he learned from his Dad. I'm answering for him bc his new computer will not arrive until tomorrow and I know he is an avid proponent of it's use. I use it too.

Ive used it in cars. Some in the gas, some in the oil right before you change it.

If you use alot it will smoke like hell, like its supposed it.

I've used it on my cars. Never tore down the engines so I can't confirm it's working as advertised. I always used a vacuum line to suck it into the intake eventually enough to stall the motor. Let it sit for 5 min, start it up and watch it smoke like crazy. It's never caused any problems.

I've put a whole can in the tank of a carb bike at fill up. Just be careful, the stuff is 100% petro, and it will eat paint according to the directions.

Been plenty of research on this, google it. Been around for 50 years or so. Shouldn't hurt anything unless you overload it and hydrolock. Won't really do any good either.

Around here it's also known by the more generic term: Snake Oil.

As long as you use good gas and winterize properly then you won't have to use this stuff. The big carbs on the VTR also have big jets. They do not clog easily. At one point in my bike's life she sat for almost a year and started right up afterwards. That was without Stabil too!
