Revs hanging at 2k when blipping the throttle

Here is what i have read:

Rev up the bike (in neutral), then allow the engine to return to idle. If the engine hangs for a moment at 2k rpms, the fuel mixture screws are set too lean, and need to be turned out (unscrewed) until the engine returns to idle smoothly, without hanging.

Here are my questions:
1) If i keep adjusting the fuel mixture screws out a bit at a time (maybe 1/4 turn at a time), i should eventually get to a point where the engine returns to idle without hanging, correct?

2) I know it's not "correct" to do this next part, but will i be able to dial the "hang" out without syncing the carbs each time i tweak the mixture screws? (My hope is to dial the hang out, then sync the carbs at the end to get the tuning just perfect. I know this is a bit lazy, i'm just asking if this method is even possible?)

The bike really is running great! Just trying to perfect the mix before this year's riding season ends

Sounds like you might check the idle drop procedure.

Well it i definitely getting better. Turned each fuel screw 1/4 out this morning, rode to work, and played the "blip the throttle" game when I got there. I can barely tell it is hanging now. 1/4 turn more and I think I'll be in the clear. After that I'll sync them (SSsshhhh.... don't tell anyone!)

Another 1/4 turn out.

Doesn't seem like it is hanging anymore now.

I'll sync in the morning and maybe post a video for you guys.

Well i thought i had it fixed.

Sync'd the carbs, got them perfect, now the tach is hanging just below 2k... Still... This was after 1/2 turn out (total) on both fuel screws.

IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW
-----That was with the digital temp gauge reading 210 (fan was on also). Not sure what it does at normal temps yet... Will report back in the morning.------ END IMPORTANT NOTE

Anyone have any ideas? One of my problems is i installed the adjustable mixture screws with purple loctite, so i need mini pliers to turn them. Very tedious. That is why i am trying to avoid the whole idle drop procedure again. That coupled with the fact i dodn't get anywhere with it last time...

Thoughts?

James

I'm back to 45 pilots and a couple turns out on each mixture screw. I removed the loctite on the mixture screws so i could adjust them easily. Also wanted to reference this other similar thread of mine showing an updated video.

Hmmm it could be a sticking autochoke. Does this happen even if the engine is warmed up?

That's good to hear if that's the case.
