Replacement OEM CCT Tab

Folks, I bought replacement OEM CCTs and there is a little metal tab with a hole in it sticking out of the small end (end where plunger is released) of the CCTs. This is not discussed in the Honda shop manual I have, but I assume that this retains the release and keeps the plunger in the retracted position (? ). So once they are installed is this tab simply pulled out, or....?

Regards and thanks from a new member (though I've had my '99 for 8 years).

you are correct, the key keeps the plunger from extending outward ( retracted ). once the CCT is installed it needs to be removed so the plunger can provide the tension needed.

even though you are using the OEM CCT's follow the same procedures as far as cam position !
