Regulator/Rectifier swap

So I've been having issues with my head-light. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. I checked the voltage at the plug and at the fuse both were ok. After doing a search on here and finding out that the R/R will cause some gremlins, I decided to take a look and sure enough,,, I caught it just in time, the plastic around both terminals on top (power and ground I believe) were a little bit melted, but that was all, everything else was good. I decided against the r1 swap and spent the extra few $$$ to get the direct replacement for the hawk and plugged her right in. Now, I don't know if it's my imagination or what, but it looks to me as if the dash lights and the head and tail lights are just a bit brighter,,, hmmmmm......

Anyway,,, part plus tax and shipping $107.82 at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...32430290317418

The R1 swap wasn't about saving money, but to get a unit that disperses heat better. However, looks like the unit you found has the fins that the OEM unit was lacking. It'll be interesting to see the long term results for you. good luck with it.

plenty of fins, but it still won't have the cooling capacity of the one made by CircuitBurner @ Motovoltage.com
