Reg/Rec problem...need help!

Ok, so I ordered an R6 rectifier to install on the SH. It arrived yesterday and I started putting it in.

Apparently the order of the wires seems to have some importance, particularly with the red and green wires. If I plug them in one way, they blow the main fuse (a 30 amp one). If I plug them in the opposite, it doesn't blow the fuse, but it's also not charging the battery either.

If I plug the old unit back in, it works fine.

Any ideas????

The R6 unit I got was for a 97 to 02 model. Apparently it fit the R1 as well.

Help!

There's an R6 Rectifier Swap How-to right at the top of the Knowledgebase section of the forum.

Hope you didn't damage yours blowing the fuse!

R6

I use a 02 R6 RR. Worked fine after I got the wires right. There's a very helpful how-to in the knowledge base with this diagram.

Thanks guys. I had looked at the how-to thread. I just forgot which side the red and green were on. I think I also had forgotten the ground, because I went back and re-installed it, and it seems to be working fine now.

thanks for the input!
