Plug n' Play Rectifier/Regulator

Newbie question... Will an RC51 R/R fit my 98 VTR1000 without modification?

Or should I pick up a VTR1000 R/R from the later model years?

"upgrade" is subjective. I'd take the 15 minutes to read up on MOSFET R/R's before purchasing blindly.

lots of info on here for what to look for. I went with a used yamaha MOFSET unit and eastern beaver connector kit, from what I read on here. Haven't fired it up yet, but I trust all will be fine. Mine still had to stock finned unit with no bad signs, I just wanted to be safe.

So I just took a quick look at my r/r this morning. On the side it reads "SH693-12", I don't think this is the stock one...
