geekonamotorcycle: Yeah, I covered that back two weeks ago when this all began.

SPRHK: Yeah, I thought we covered that issue before it was sent to me - oh well.

**** happens! I know the same issue arose with my customer as well. He bought one on here and it was different than his, same as mine. I have a 98, he has a 02? electrical plug and plug position were different.

Thanks, but I'm not sure how. Honda Tech has tried all the possibilities except for the converter unit. Problem is... no one has any converters!
Honda suppliers are backordered and every place I have checked doesn't have one online - or at actual stores. Aaaaaarrrrgh!
Honda supply says the converters are scheduled to arrive into the U.S. in a container this Friday - no way of knowing if that's going to come true. When they are unloaded and distributed to suppliers around the country is anyone's guess also.

With recent events in Japan it's a long shot at best. The whole Japanese car industry is about to slow down for lack of parts. You may be better off in the classifieds here, or as others suggested, flea-bay.

I would try to modify the converter for the older model. you might be able to wire one for an older model in.

Thumbs up Converter Unit - SOLVED!!

The converter unit arrived and it works!
After waiting 2 1/2 weeks, the bike is finally running.
I'll report back after I ride it home this evening.

Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions - special thanks to superh1998 for sticking with me through all of this.

How much did you wind up paying the dealership?

A) Its way too late for that
B) This is a forum and sharing information is the only way it will benefit any of us.

This is the nature of the medium. Even if one of us crashes or gets a bike stolen that info can help others avoid these unpleasantries. I have done all these things and am happy to tell if it helps someone out.

Well... the 7.5 mile ride home from the mechanic's was uneventful - thank GOD!!
It rode beautifully and without any hiccups.
Glad to be back on the road.

I'll keep you all informed of my rides... when they become interesting again.
