Need help plZ
It's cold out so I had to choke my bike to get it to start all it did was backfire really loud and now won't turn over what could be causing this I rode it earlier today ran fine like always only 18k miles

Are you running manual ccts or still factory autos?

Well I have an update I think it was just a vapor buildup in the cylinder that did it but it did crank up today before I hade to put her away because of the rain but it sounded like a shotgun going off and now is smells like its running rich

Sounds like new battery time. The gunshot is just unburned gas from all the choking and cranking.
Next time try hitting the starter and then slowly pulling choke as its spinning. (not before) No idea why this works but it does.
How old is the battery? How strong was it crankng? Sounds like nothing major. Give more details.

Oh, yeah, I am always the guy explaining that. RR is regulator rectifier. It controls how much voltage gets put back into the system as well as rectifying it (ac to dc).
They are the #1 sketchy thing on these bikes. Do a search on it there is tons of info. Figure you can ebay a mofset one. I use the Yamaha R1 units on my 2 vtrs.

I have always called it a voltage regulator lol but I'll look into is and I'm sorry to ask but what are ccts I've got about 1500 I can put into this thing or sell this bike and get a better sh

Mathew, if you have been riding and running it, keep the bike. This is an easy fix. But if you dont do it the battery will fail and you will have to push it home. (IF this is the problem)
Any minute someone may swoop in and give you a link, or search Regulator rectifier. You can buy plug n play replacements. You have to check voltage across the battery at rest and running. Then post results.

Download the VTR1000F Workshop manual PDF for servicing info - use this forum's search function to flesh out what needs doing and how its done.
On the UK Firestorm site we have a *** Read Me for New Members *** which is a handy reference from how to post pics to Bike Maintenance and Upgrades/Modifications. Most of it is just as applicable to the US Superhawk but its written in English :-)
