Modifying oilsump for Moriwaki STG 2 exhaust
Like the title says...
So far, I have a spare oilsump, and that's it... I also have all the tools neccesary, and some of the knowledge needed for welding on it... The rest I'll have to improvise...
8541Hawk, you mentioned that the oilpickup might need changing also?
BTW if anyone can provide an image of these elusive modified sumps I'd be much obliged...

ah ha, so that's what you've been up to, lol
For the sump, perhaps try Roger Ditchfield at Revolution Racing. He can surely tell you everything you need to know about it...
Keep us posted (now that the secret is out ).....

To be completely honest, this is a long-term project... Along with building a complete STG 2 mill to bolt it too... I have enough spare VTR engines lying around to build a STG 1, a STG 2 and still have my now running one left over as well as a few spare blocks...
Like I said, I'm halfway conviced the buggers are procreating... Or atleast that's what I tell the significant other half when she want's to know where the "new" parts comes from...
Also on the list, above this, is to get the SP2 roadworthy in "stock" condition, with just a few minor corrections, nothing big...
Oh, and some electrical dohdah's...

You'll definitely have to do some work on the crank if you build a Stage 2 as aggressive cams (not Stage 1) cause the stock piece to break. Again, contact Roger, he can give you all the details....
as always, keep us posted

Well I've been hunting around but have been unable to find any pics.
What I do remember about the Stage 2 pan & pick up (other than you needed to send in a copy of your racer resume to be even considered to be able to purchase one) was that the idea of it was to put the pipe more on the center line of the bike to stop the touching down in right hand corners.
So they made a oil pan with a cut out to clear the pipe but the oil pick up is in the center of the pan. Which meant you needed a pick up that would go to the left side of the pan.
I'll see if I can find anymore info.....

I spoke to Roger last year on this very subject, and if I remember rightly, he had a sump he was willing to sell me, however I went for stage 1 eventually and therefore didn't need the sump.
I think Yeti on this forum would be worth a PM because that guy is moriwaki obsessed, like me but worse.
Chris.

Here you go. It's hard to see, but they cut the sump and fit a new curved section and welded it in place. It also requires a new pickup.
If you are going for that much motor, you should modify the chassis - also shown. The chassis is reinforced at the rear, with plates welded on the inside of the casting. The frame head is boxed in (not shown) and an additional diagonal brace is added between the upper and lower rails.
