I think the R/R finally died. Little help

So on my ride to school today, 3mins away from my house my bike shut off completely. It was as if the bike had no battery, no lights or power of any sort(except for my legs walking it back home). I am pretty sure that the R/R failed based on the research that I have done, but I would like for someone to confirm this. I have also read of batteries going back b/c of the part failing, what are the chances that the battery is bad(it is a new battery maybe a month old)? I also read that the R6/R1 R/R is the most common swap and that the 98-01 R1 is cheaper. What year R6 R/R will work and is there an actual difference in the design of R1 and R6?

Yep, the best guess would be that the R/R died and blew the main fuse.

This is a repeat question to say the least, but since you have been a good boy and done some reseach yourself I'll gladly answear it...

Check the obvious, main fuse and such... And no, it's not in the fuse box...

YZF-R1/R6 99-07, YSF1000R/600R 97-07 is the same or equal unit (some difference in connectors 03->)... Newer than 2007 is bigger in size and will be difficult to fit physicly...

Have your battery load tested and if not 100% swap it as well...

Just checked the main fuse and it is blown. I did notice that my turn signal relay had some water in it, but the turn signal fuse was still good. I was thinking about replacing the main fuse and drying the turn relay to see if that will fix it, or should I wait for new R/R to get in?

PS. I already ordered a R1 R/R

There is only one component that is solely fused by the main fuse, and that's the R/R. The only possibility other than a failed R/R is that the main fuse was defective or corroded and failed early. The only way to find out is to replace it and see what happens. I suggest you buy two.

Well, maybe only this. My RR was replaced, acted like the stator was blown but it was the connectors at the back of the tank under the seat. I bridged all the connectors with hard soldered joints and everything was cherry.

Just tried new fuse. Lasted about 5 mins till it died. Is it ok to buy a used R/R, or worth the extra $ to buy a new one?

Buy a used Yamaha one and do the swap so that it won't happen again:

I meant a new Yamaha one vs a used Yamaha one. I have no plans on buying a new SH one.

And the one I bought last night is out of stock so that I am still searching.

Well a used Yamaha R/R will probably outlast a brand spanking new Honda one...

I have gone through 2 OEM ones... First one lasted 97-00, second 00-03... My used 98 Yamaha R/R is still going strong in 2010... You do the math...

So I got the R/R in and plugged it up correctly and there is no power still. And it still acts as if there is no power. Any suggestions?

I checked the fuse and it is blown, I am very confident that I connected the wires in the proper order; but should I try and swap them or could this damage the system?

My guess is you do have it swapped already. Did you wire it as if looking into the R/R or into the wiring harness?? it swaps the wires (like in a mirror)

I did it looking at the image from the link posted above. Just swapped fuse and it's running so I am about to ride it up and down the street make sure it is ok.

If you have a voltmeter, test the voltage at the battery at idle, 2500, and 5000 RPM to make sure it is working right. If so, you are all done

I don't have access to a volt meter yet but when my roommate gets home I will test it. I took it on a test ride and it ran beautifully.
