hose removal

I have what may be a completely ridicules question: what is the most useful tool/technique for removing vacuum hoses from the carburetors on the Hawk?

Ask your dentist if he has any old dental pics/tools that they'd like to get rid of, some look remarkably like those ultra expensive Mac Tool things..Mine also gave me 2 ultrasonic units that worked perfect but had been mothballed...

I'm cheap and not beyond asking...
