Flat Tire

I was getting to go for a night ride, when to my utter disappointment, I discovered a flat rear tire. My plan (short of renting a trailer) is to get a tire sealant product, inflate the tire, then ride to the shop for a replacement.

I see the hole in the tire - decent size. Can you recommend the best way (product) to deal with this?

Re: Flat Tire

Is it a nail hole?

From my experience: Sealants are very sloppy and "sometimes" work.

Plugging, although is never recommended, has always worked as a temp fix.

Good luck!

Thanks, I plugged the hole, was able to ride to the shop, even though the air was escaping slowly.

Re: Flat Tire

Alic,

I don't know what size your hole was but typical nail/screws that I usually pick up can be plugged with a standard "rope" plug kit. The usual motorcyclist mantra is "a mushroom plug installed from the inside if you dare to repair it at all". I've used the rope type plugs for over 20 years now, never had one fail. If it would take more than one plug to plug it, then I'd get a new tire but I've never had to do that (knock on wood, fingers crossed).
