I have an 02 superhawk and the other day when I went to start it I just lost juice. I am trying to diagnose: I have 12v going into the ignition but when it's on, only 5v-6v coming out. If I activate the engine kill switch it's about 7v coming out. Is this normal? I thought I should get 12v out. I don't have anything coming our of the ignition going to the fan motor.

Please Help!

 

What has the fan motor got to do with anything?

Have you started with the obvious? checking all the fuses, including the 30A main fuse which sits underneath the rear bodywork... Need to remove that to get to it...

 

After you check the fuses, load test the battery. After my recent experience I'd bet your battery is fried.
Easier to check the charging system if the bike is running so charge the battery if it will take a charge;pick up a new one if it won't

 

two dead cells. and while you're at it check the output of the VR, you could be cooking batteries.

 

Hell I'm still trying to figure out what the base problem is. Did it crank and not start, no cranking at all......or did the fan just not turn on.....
