Dunlop D616
I think I am going to try a set. Kneedraggers seems to have a good price on these, and my Sportec's are showing cords, so this HAS to be better. I bet they will have a HUM to them like a mud tire on a truck...
I was just about to post the same question. I'm thinking of getting them. They no doubt will be noisier than other sport tires, but you're on a bike where everything is already loud not to mention a Vtwin.
There are very few reviews out on them and most are from Buell riders since these were originally made for a Buell. some good and some not very. has anyone seen anything out there about these tires?

FWIW It seems to be a Buell tire.. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=104242&page=1
The D616 is the perfect tire for the VTR. I am on my third set and they are just about the best tire for the bike. The acceleration is great. No more compression skidding when engine braking. They deal with water, debris, rough roads, and sand/gravel. I did 60 through a soft sand ditch like I was in supercross! I can also grind my footpegs clear off on any freeway entrance or exit ramp.
I use a 190/50 17 for the rear of the Firestorm which is a better balance for the bike and it's power characteristics.
I buy the rears off ebay for $157 shipped to my door free in under three days. If your willing to become a dealer and buy around 20 at a time you can get them for $97.60 a skin with $150 freight. It's best to just buy a few at a time and get a set of spare rims so you can keep a fresh set ready to go.
They lasts 4000 Miles on the rear!!! I get 2 rears to every front.
Only a few notes to make... They don't like Dyna Beads! I don't use them, but some do so make note of it. They need at least 100 MILES before you can really start flogging them. Lots of swerving to make sure you rough up the whole tire. No extreme lean until they have properly broken in "according to my Dunlop Rep and some kid with an R1 who dumped it on his first corner" On the CBR or other inline it takes more like 200 miles to really get them broken in. If you want a quiet tire on your loud bike buy something else... they are loud and on certain surfaces can transmit vibrations up to the bars.

I really like my Dunlop roadsmarts because the D616 tread didn't last as long as I had hoped for. I also like the dual compound of the roadsmarts and the tread is deep enough for the rain here in Washington.
