Question crazy idea

How bout this.....
Removing one can, a baffelectomy on the remaining one, 15 tooth front, 43 tooth rear on a 520 chain. Stock everything else. What ya'll think?

Dont remember what thread it was in... but recently someone tired one can and had tuning issues.... sprockets sound good though... will give alot of wheelie power, not to much highway cruzing ability though.

yeah, the sprocket question has been beat on like a rented mule. you should find several threads on the debate if you look....

as for the question about the cans, I have no idea why you would want to eliminate one, or what effect it would have on how the bike runs.. Seems to me that the answer would be "not good", seeing as how most (all?) v-twin bikes have dual cans...

Ya, I know, but I've had the 'hawk for 8 years and am looking for a cheap quick change. I figure if it don't work, I'll have to break down and invest in some jardines or somthin'.

Only use one can if you can make the headers go two-into-one, and have the remainder of the exhaust step up in size.

Exactly.

You cant just take one pipe off. itll run all fukked up. you gotta fab sometin up, basically a totally custom exhuaust. its been done, i think. but its not easy or fast. OR cheap

Not totally custom, but mine was maybe $150 total. $50 can off ebay, headers for almost free many years ago, $50 for welding. A hanger I got from somewhere a long time ago $20.
