Cooling issue

My 98 Hawk will heat up normally, fan will come on when appropriate, doesnt overheat, but when I check the coolant after the bike is cool,it is a tad low and the overflow jug has a little more coolant in it than when I started.Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the coolant that flows into the jug when the system is hot and pressurized supposed to flow back into the radiators when it cools back down?

EngineNoO9 is an unknown quantity at this point
not quite... When I have done carb work and disconnect the coolant lines from the carbs there's always fluid in them that gets everywhere. annoys the hell out of me... I'm sure you're fine though

...Second paragraph. Sounds as though you may have a bad vacuum check valve. Try cleaning it and operating it by hand. Maybe it just needs some love.
