Connecting rod bolts

Does anyone know the specs for the connecting rod bolt used on the VTR? I recall reading that these would be replaced whenever they are taken out. My thought is, since I have to replace them anyhow, perhaps just pay a bit more and get some titanium ones instead (a bit lighter, so long as they are up to the job). Anyone?

cheers

That's a pretty specialized, one time use bolt. It would likely be difficult to find in titanium and the benefits would be effectively nil.

I found it has a 9 mm thread so it does indeed sound specialized. Looks like OEM is the way to go.

cheers

Give Kiyo a call. He might have something still lying around.

Even if I could get them, I wouldn't do it. Titanium is notoriously brittle in use. That is a high load area.

I'm a fan of ARP bolts. They don't have motorcycles listed in their catalog that I saw, but you can give then the bolt specs and they can match them up. http://www.arp-bolts.com/Catalog/Catalog.html

Why not just go with titanium connecting rods, like on the Acura NSX?

Just kidding, but wouldn't that be cool.

If money were no object, there would be MANY cool things to do.

BTW, I e-mailed ARP a few minutes ago (before checking this thread again, so "great minds think alike" ) Also, I found some Ti rod bolts for a Ducati on eBay and they were VERY expensive so no go for this guy even if I could find some....
