Question Clutch MC protector?

Hi guys.

I tried searching but couldn't find anything related.

I decided to change my clutch fluid today and when I opened the
master cylinder I noticed a metal tab floating around inside.
The parts micro fiche says it's a protector?

I'm guessing it goes where I've marked with an arrow?
I was just wondering whether this can be put back
in easily or has it snapped off somehow?

Is it even necessary?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Geoff.

it is not very necessary partit protects you when you pump the MC from the squirt that will come up
this is only an issue then the MC is opened, no top cover
it does not effect the stopping

Hey there chemomche.
Thanks very much. Now I know, I won't worry so much.
Cheers, Geoff.
