Clutch Cover

Ok, long story short there is a plate inside the clutch cover with a rubber spacer behind it, are these parts required? What are there purpose? Has anyone ever done away with the fin design and plated the entire front? I see the pictures from the guy putting Lexan in place... My cover was destroyed in a wreck and have the ability to cut the fins completly out and plate the front and tig it in place... However i do not want to do the work to find i need the fins. I was planning to set the plate to what would be the farthest outcropped fin.

That rubber plate is just to dampen the clutch noise, Its not really needed.

The fins are just really a design, and serve no real purpose. As long as you have the clearance I can't see why you couldn't just tig over it.

Thanks, I was under the same impression. I am going to give it a shot. I don't want to drop 225.00 for a new cover from honda! I will tig it and continue my search for a used one! I will post before and after pictures of it. Thanks again.

I am located in Houston. I have it done, Looks really good! I helped my welder perform the surgery, so the credit is all his! The pictures are not the best. I need to put oil and coolant in it tomorrow and fire it up.
