Choke Assembly

I have pulled my carbs to perform a cleaning of the jets. In doing so, I successfully broke both of the plastic nuts holding the choke cables to the carbs. Anyone know where to get replacements? Do I have to replace the entire choke cable assembly to replace the nuts? Looks kind of like a have to.

You do not have to replace the entire thing. Do some searching and you'll find more than one thread where guys made or bought brass equivalent parts.

If you push the spring back from the needle assy very carefully you can remove each needle from the cable by sliding the lead nub out the split side of the needle case. Then the broken parts will come off for replacement.

Be patient removing the broken parts as the 90 degree rubber will tear easily too. Go slow.

You can "make some" from the polaris parts
https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...etainer-29791/

Or you can contact gl_s_r in the UK and see if he has any of his replacements for sale

But you can not buy just the "starter valve retainer" as a part.

Get the Polaris parts. It will make you whole life a better place. More stock crappy stuff will break even easier the second time and you will be even madder.

Perts Ordered

I have ordered the Polaris holder guides. I know I can drill out the inside diameter but don't have a lathe to do the retaining rim. I may try the dremel method. Would a hose clamp work if I can't cut the rim?
Also, these things broke off at the threads. How do I get the old threads out with the needle and spring are still attached?

Yeah, just use a pick or tiny screwdriver to push them out. You can just sand the outer diameter down to size or carefull use a dremmel. I think if you do a search there are some pictures on how its done.

Or use one of those "back out" bits meant for removing busted bolts.

The good and bad.

Found a post where someone talks about getting these things out. I was able to get one out very easily. The other, not so much. I got it out using a small pick but in doing so, I buggered the ends that retain the spring and have the needle attached. So now I need that part.

Received the Polaris parts and was able to mod them as shown. Worked like a champ.
Thanks everyone.
