can manual cct's increacse idle speed

So today i finished replacing my ccts with manual ones and my bikes idle increased by about 1k rpm. does this happen often? and i cant change the idle with the idle screw its not hitting the throttle body. does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Sounds like a pretty high increase. I'd be looking for something in my procedure.

I know That would be my first response as well but i didn't mess with the carbs at all and i didn't touch the cables. is there anything else that could have caused it?

must have pinched the cables putting the airbox back on? Can you hear the butterflies close when you close the throttle?

i took off the air-box and made sure that that didn't happen the second time i put on the air-box and the problem persisted. i do think that they auto cct's had been adjusted by unscrewing them to click them out and then screwing them back in. is there a screw on the carbs that will move the throttle body?

Thanks for the responce Andy

CCTs cant change idle in that all they are doing is literally providing tension. Someone more knowledgeable will know if the chain jumping a tooth could cause that but I don't think so.

an open vacuum port somewhere can raise idle if any vac hose became dislodged in the work.

the only hose i couldn't find a place for was one that comes directly off of the tank and it wasnt attached to anything as far as i could tell when i was taking her apart.

For the work they both take, you should eliminate the pair system now. It will only ever get in your way so sooner is better to take it out. There is a sticky on it I think or just search pair removal.

If you are talking about the vac hose coming off the petcock, then yes it needs to be connected to the rear carb (small brass fitting facing forward on left side) and yes that will cause the idle to raise.

No i was talking about the drain hose on the gas tank and i assume that its supposed to be free so that if it does need to vent gas it wont go into the engine or carbs and flood them.

There are two outlets on the underside of the tank (tank breather & tank drain) which both should have hoses attached that lead to front of the bike nr the bellypan. If hose isn't fitted then there is a risk of overfilled fuel dropping directly onto the (hot) engine with predicitable consequences...

As suggested, look for disconnected vac hoses at the base of the carbs. If the PO (assuming that you are not original owner) installed a carb sync set up, or IIRC, CA bikes, there will be a hose/fitting on the front carb as well as the rear. If this is the case there will also be a tee fitting somewhere between the carb and the petcock. Plastic will crack and rubber will rot. In spec idle it will not.
