Bike stalls except at full throttle
Bike stalls except at full throttle
Bike was running fine. I was riding along at crusing speeds when I cut the throttle due to an approaching car at an intersection. Once I was sure they acknowledged me, I cracked the throttle back open and it stuttered, but took off. After I backed off the throttle, I noticed that it seemed to want to stall. I made it to my destination (at a high rate of speed) having to restart it at at every corner. Bike pulls hard and runs fine at full throttle, but trys to stall as soon as you left off the throttle. Bike has 30k miles, Kerker exhaust, K&N filter, jet kit, and manual CCT installed. Any ideas?
Maybe a vacuum leak. Check all the hoses. Also the rubber boots that hold the carbs to the head. Open the air box, check the slides for movement. That is do they both feel and move the same.
Unsure how wise a KnN filter and aftermarket jet kit is, though I don't think that is the reason.

I wasn't aware of any vacuum hoses, but I'll start looking there as that makes sense. I was questioning if it wasn't related to the carb diaphragms, but read that a failure there would lead to no high end, the opposite of what I have. It is not a CARB model for what it's worth if that would affect having potential vacuum hose leaks. I am fully capable of working on it, but am honestly not very familiar with it as it has been bulletproof with zero issues short of the need for the CCT upgrade.

Go for a ride and when the stall happens, stop and pull out and examine the front plug. It might tell you something.
