1/4 or 1/5 turn throttle?

Searched and couldn't find anything...

The throttle twist is a pretty decent amount. Anybody make a 1/2 or 1/4 turn throttle?

I know most of you do the front end conversions and can probably use the throttle for the associated front end conversion, but what about those of use with the stock forks/front end?

Anything you can DIY to get a shorter turn to get WOT??? Example, for an R6 you can just grab an R1 throttle tube/grip and swap it out and loosen the cable on the carb linkage a little to give the cable some slack. Can we grab say, an RC51(just for example) throttle tube and do the same?

Re: 1/2 turn throttle?

That sounds odd to me, my throttle only rolls 1/4 turn to full on.

Well, mine is a quarter turn also, but I'm talking 1/4 or 1/2 of that amount, so you don't have to twist it so much to get to full throttle...i.e. a race throttle....

Example of what I'm talking about incase you guys are like "what the hell is he talking about?"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Quick...00080111QQrdZ1

Some of the GSXR kits are just pieces of plastic that fit over the throttle cable track, and are a little more eccentric so you don't have to twist so far to go from zero to wide open throttle....

Re: 1/4 or 1/5 turn throttle?

I contacted the guy on ebay that is selling those throttle tubes and asked if he made any for street bikes. He said no.

Wish they did.
I had to take ALL the slack out of my throttle cables.
Thought I had most of it out & checked the last time I had the air box off.
Found a good amount of slack still there.
Adjusted it with the air box off so I could see the cables at the bell crank.
Made a noticeable difference !

Re: 1/4 or 1/5 turn throttle?

SWEEEEEEEET!!!!! Thanks...

I too have taken out all the slack on my bar end of the cable, so the's almost no play when full lock right, but it's still annoying to have to twist that much. Spoiled I guess, lol.

RC45 throttle tube...so where can I get one here in the states???

Bikebandit.com

Select '94, Honda, RVF750R.

Throttle tube is listed under the "Switch" section, part # 8.

I too hate the "roll your wrist waaaay down" full throttle when using a neutral grip, this seems to fit the bill nicely!

Sweet...I have a ton of play in my bar side of the cable adjustment...I musta turned the adjuster literally 15 rotations before I got it to the point of where it's at right now. ANd even still it was adjusted a little bit out. So I think on my carb end of teh cable, it's completely adjusted slack....which is good, nobody likes having to remove your tank and airbox, lol.

So how much of a reduction in throw am I seeing? I see they say it's 10% larger...but so what? How much is that in terms of how much throttle twist is alleviated?

I'm dense !
So all i need to do is replace is the VTR throttle tube with the RVF throttle tube?????
It will fit in the stock VTR throttle casing?

TIA

Have you found anywhere that makes a 1/5 throttle? I've always been stuck with modifying a stock tube.

I agree that a modest reduction in the turning distance of our throttle is a good idea. But a quarter-turn throttle on a street bike is a generally bad idea.

Expect to get the rear loose on corner exit (eventually) with this mod.

Too late! My rear tire spins everytime I ride it. I just don't like having to twist my whole arm around to wind it up. I might end up with carpral tunnel or something. I don't know about a 1/5 turn, but I've always liked a 1/4 turn throttle and intend to convert mine at some point.

Re: 1/4 or 1/5 turn throttle?

I picked up a RC45 throttle tube as per the UK site link (only cost @ $15 dollars, too cheap to start dicking around with backyard mods IMHO) and will be getting it installed in the next few days as I am bringing my bike in for a valve adjustment tomorrow morning. I will also be getting new CCT's installed, along with my RC51 front brake master cylinder. I will keep you posted on the results.

cheers

I recently installed my RC45 throttle tube ($12 by the way). I'm still getting used to it, but so far my opinions are mixed. I might take it off and only run it on the track. I find it hurts when navigating parking lots and such. Throttle control in first is touchy. The actual turn amount is less than 1/4 (90°), so I might opt for something in between if there is such a thing.

I just installed a 1/6 race throttle on my SH. I bought a 1/6 throttle from Dan Kyle for a RC51 and sent it to Motion Pro with the stock throtle and cables. I had them make the cables a little longer since I have Heli bars and want to put the converti bars on soon. This works great and was too easy. Aynone interested shoud do this it's well worth it.

Good Luck

I ended up taking my RC45 throttle tube off. It turned out to be about 1/5 turn and it was way too aggressive. It made wheelies really tough and, as mentioned above, was difficult in slow speed first gear maneuvers. The throttle tube is now in my spare parts tub, never to return to the VTR. It might be a good thing to put on an inline 4 if I ever get another one of those (doubtful, too slow).

Why not "do it right", spend a few extra greenbacks and get the HRC 1/6th turn model. Works well for me
