1-10 on the forks?

ok so i have looked thru the service manual(i do not own a owners manual) i have used the search feature and i cant find what im looking for.

i know it says 1-10 softer to harder. what does this really do?

If i take a screw driver and turn this adjustment to say number 1 my shocks will make the front end ride softer? what number should these be set to for around town riding,, you know lots of pot holes, rail road tracks and crazy gaps of missing asphalt?

The middle adjuster (flat screwdriver) is for rebound damping. It controls how quickly the fork rebounds after hitting a bump. There is a suspension setup thread in the Knowledge Base. It should answer a lot of your questions.

There's also a suspension setup guide on my website once you have the basics down.

Keep in mind that the rebound damping adjustment on the forks controls only the low speed. I found it to make only marginal changes in the overall performance. Putts'ing around you can tell a little bit, but once you start to push the bike it's the high speed that makes the difference. FYI
