So I decided to enter my hawk in a bike show...
I've only had my bike for a few months, and it's not heavily modded or anything, but at the rally I went to, there weren't many sportbikes, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I had spent almost 3 hours last night cleaning and detailing my bike so it was lookin great.
I go to the booth and sign up. Dude tells me where to park and I do. Low and behold, I'm the ONLY sportbike in the show. That's not the way I wanted to win, so I wanted to wait to see if any other sportbikes showed up.
About an hour later, a dude on an 08 Suzuki Gladius pulled in. I go over and talk to him (pretty cool dude) and tell him he should put his bike in the show. His bike wasn't detailed, but basically clean. The gladius was pretty cool as it was the first one I'd ever seen in person. I don't like the headlight whatsoever, but the rest is pretty cool.
Me and him BS for a while and I see his face drop. He points behind me and said "they are putting THAT in th sport bike class?!?!? I turn around and look at one of the prettiest VRODs I've ever seen. And in my opinion, the VROD is kinda funky lookin to begin with. This thing had some bitchin custom paint. It had the look of an airplane with airbrushed rivets, the shark etc.... Probably a few grand in paint. (see below)
Long story short, the vrod came in first and the damn gladius came in second. I spent hours with q-tips and the 7 year newer Gladius rolled up with bugs and dirt, and he beat me. Why the hell is a vrod in the sportbike class anyways?
Mine (in the garage)

Stickers i had made up (not too sure im diggin them yet)

Vrod that whooped me (you can kinda see the back of the Gladius in the background)

Great paint on the vrod

Anything with saddle bags should be removed from the sport class, including hawks.
You got robbed! That VRod shouldn't have even been in your class. They probably just didn't want to give 1st place to a rice burner. And was the guy on the Gladius wearing silver lame pants?
If you don't get that, look up the thread on the Gladius from last year. Plus the name kind of says it all.

Son of a .... i just read that thread by Inderocker, and now i feel even worse. Im printing that **** and bring it to the next bike show in hopes that the Gladius owner shows up.
Actually, in person the bike didnt look bad. he had a CF (not sure of the brand) can on it and it sounded pretty mean.
Some shows never have anyone "officially" class the vehicles. So when the Vrod dude registered the probable just asked him what calss he wanted to be in. Him not knowing the definition of a "true" sportbike just said sportbike class. I was at a show once and happened to be a registration when a guy came in on a 1200 Sportster with Billet wheels, custom paint, and some light engine tweeking. When asked what class he said "stock Sportster." you could tell he bought it this way and didn't know any better. Some of the staff quickly set him straight. I was actually at a show and won "Best Foriegn Custom." Only Sportbike there but was classed with all Foriegn customs. Talk about the cruiser guys being pissed off. I never went back to that show...
I think that V-Rod is a waste of Paint. That corny ****** redneck paint job is also a waste of paint. People who paint their motorcycles to look like 60 year old airplanes are fascist ****** wing nuts. That's the award he should have gotten.
Word. That paintjob would look good on a P-51 Mustang, not that thing.

Maybe the V-Rod should have gone with the "General Lee" from Dukes of Hazzard look. The P-51 (or B-17) Miss Betsy imitation on an American assembled power cruiser with a German power plant is inane to say the least. I don't really know why this hit my "oh hell no!" nerve but it did. I would bet you that the V-Rod owner did NONE of the work on his bike.
This coming from the guy that put a suzuki sticker on his kawasaki green superhawk. Your opinion is null and void in this thread or any thread having to do with ANYTHING cosmetic !!!

Oh, you've already brought enough hate and discontent to this forum with the dreaded Craigslist posts. We'll have no more of that **** from the peanut factory.
And what the hell is a "Tribo seat cover"? Sounds
to me.

For those who need a history lesson the Flying Tigers flew P-40's, not P-51's. And with regards to the vrod, the owner's mods aren't my taste either but it's his bike, lighten up.

Www.triboseat.com. It's ribbed for her pleasure!
Seems like to win bike shows you have to do what everyone else is doing, but just do it better. There are by far more Harley riders than any other group by itself, and it seems that while the rest of us are riding most of them are at the bar or the bike show. So a Superhawk is a lost cause.
Oh, I like the old b-17 style pinup and paint schemes, maybe not the best bike for it, but I prefer it over the same old flame job that has been done so much.

you moderating and laying the smack down in that thread was probably the most excitement you've had in months. No thanks required, it was my pleasure!
