Who should mod my forks?

This winter I'm going to redo my VTR suspension. I'll go with a high dollar rear shock (ohlins, or similar) and I want to have someone go though my forks and revalve. I already have .95 racetech straight rate springs. What's a good company to use?

I thought about a USD swap, but I already ordered helibars, throttle lock, and painted my wheels.

I'm also going with the new EBC pedal/wave rotors.

Any inputs would be great, thanks.

Find out what the reputable local shops are from local riders. Far and away, having a good local guy (tuner or shop) do it locally allows you to bring it back in if you have any questions or need help setting your suspension. If you're mechanically inclined, it's not hard to do yourself. Fork oil does smell, though, just to warn you.

IMO, the petal-type rotors are unnecessary/extraneous. BUT, the most important aspect of modifying your bike is that you like it. So if you like how it looks, more power to you.

With the modifications you have planned, the front end should be awesome. I have only RT springs in mine and am loving it.

I have a friend who sent his forks out (to Lindemann, a long time ago) to have them redone. I think they replaced nearly all the internals, and set them up for his weight and riding style. This was about 10 years ago, with a ZX-11. Is this still an option now? I, too, don't feel comfortable tearing apart the internals to put in the cartridge emulator kit. I did replace the springs with Race Tech springs, but felt really uncomfortable doing it, mainly because of having my bike suspended from the rafters by two tie-down straps.

That brings up another question - how do I keep my bike off the floor when the forks are off? I have a front end stand, but it supports the forks at the bottom, by the axle. Do I have to buy/borrow a steering head stand?

I believe LE (Lindemann Engineering) still does that service on forks. I'm sure the price is a lot different from ten years ago, though.

I had Race Tech do the suspension on my bike (GSXR). When I went to visit, the front of the bike was suspended from an engine hoist using tiedowns. If you have something that lifts from the steering stem, that would be best. But it's not necessary.

Dude, that really sucks. I just moved from Suffolk 2 months ago. Had you been on this board then I could've hooked you up with a revalve. Now I live in upstate NY.

I can give you the name of a guy who's decent with forks, but can only do basic fork work like Gold Valves and such. He doesn't come up with his own valving. FWIW, don't waste your money on the GVs. The 4 port Showa valves in our forks will work just fine with the right shim stack. You just have to find somebody 1 or 2 states away that can do it for you.

PM me if you still want his name and number.
