Tommaselli "clip-ons", again
Finally got my Tommasellis from Joe at Vintage Cosmo (Motor). Despite emailing him 3 times (his answering machine is always full) I never got an email from him for 3 weeks until he shipped. Then another week or so until I got them, and he wants me to give him a big thumbs up on his Ebay feedback. Hmmmm, at least he sells what appears to be a quality item for a darn good price.
Drilled out & tapped in the pop-rivets wedging the cheap, little plastic bar ends to remove them, and installed some relatively small aluminum & steel bar ends I've had in the package since probably 1981. They are about half the weight of the stockers (which won't work). We'll see how vibration is...
If I can start on it this weekend, its going to be interesting how the double brake & single clutch lines will work with the more rearward setback expected. May have to change out my bleed-type double banjo bolt because it may not clear the Tommaselli based on what I've seen on the Forum. I know I'll loose some steering lock (will glue hard plastic shims to the head stops).
But if it works out well I will be selling my HELIBARS to recover the cost of the Tommasellis but keeping the stock bars. Got to get a SS clutch line one of these years. I've had my 3-97 bake date VTR since new in 99 and have about 55k miles on it. Not really that many miles but 5 other motorbikes plus bicycles and cager weather here have kept the mileage down.
Injuries from 01-01-07 bicycle crash necessitated the switch to the Tommasellis. 35+ years twisting the wrist and I get busted up pedaling for health by another bicyclist (abeit a real A-Hole)! Its hell getting old.
