Shorten Exhaust Can?

I recently purchased a '03 SH and am making a few changes (manual cct, superbike bars, sport touring shield, etc). It has stock exhaust and I would like the cans to be shorter. I have the tools and tig knowledge. Is there any reason it can't be done?

Thanks,
TexasWino, 60 years young

Mine are 11'' low mounts now.. vs the 18'' they used to be.

Louder... I love 'em.. pisses off my neighbor, too.. ++...

Yeah but the stock cans are all one piece, they're not meant to come apart like aftermarket cans.

They look like ART cans to me (or maybe Scorpion).
