Shifter heim joint install

I've heard people talk about installing heim joints on the shift linkage to tighten things up. I've found some joints on ebay but before I order them I was looking at the linkage and wondering(wondering is cheaper than breaking parts and having to replace them)will the post on the ball cup joint have to be removed from the shift arm and shifter? Will it have to be pressed out, drilled out or cursed out and thrown into the woods with all the other parts that pissed me off:-x So any info to avoid any minor aggravation prior to the install would be greatly appreciated.

No I mean there is a post with a ball on it for the existing ball and cup joint and this post looks like it's pressed into the shift arm and shift lever. Am I supposed to remove this post and install a bolt with a nut to attach shiftt arm to the heim joint linkage assembly

Yes Shawn that is right, you need to remove it. Knock the back off the pin with a grinder (carefully) and it easily comes out with a hammer and punch.

You new heim joints can be mounted with a bolt and nyloc nut or spring washer.

To make the whole set up really neat, you can buy two Yamaha R1 rubber boots the perfect size to cover the joints.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Cheers,
Shayne
