RC51 coils
RC51 coils
I got my eye on some rc51 coils and since I'm already in the Shawk doin a bit of work, Does anyone know if they are compatible with the superhawk and if they may be any better?
I wouldn't see why they would be any "better" but two things I'd check are: the sparkplug connector length and the wiring harness connectors on the coil end may be different since the 51 is fuel-infected (just a guess).
Yeah, I don't think the RC51 coil would be much better. The only reason I can think they would be is because the RC51 has more compression requiring more juice to create a spark under compression.
On my 1980 KZ1300 the stock coils really sucked so I installed some late model GM coils with .7ohm resistance and a 1.8ohm ballast resistor for a 2.5ohm total primary resistance. They work great even if I gap the plugs to .045". I wouldn't get your heart set on the RC51 units but keep an open mind to higher output coils.
