Question regarding swapping out front end.

hey guys i got a question regarding the front end of the hawk. I have a set of ebc rotors(2nd set) that is beginning to show signs of warpage. I am tired of throwing away money. So i want to change up my front end. and i need to know
1. What is the best set up? 929 954 1000rr
2. What is all needed?
3. Ease of finding parts and installation?
4. Does anyone have these parts laying around?
5. What is the cost of parts? approx.

Thanks guys, and i will be searching the site also to figure it out.

1.RC 51 is easiest
2.Evrything but controls
3.lots of different front ends avail. RC a little harder to find
4.Check with rcvtr but I think he's got to straighten the forks a little.
5.As cheap as you can find the stuff any where from$500-1200 depending on condition and luck.
6.Patients

Here's a link with some good info and there're others as well.

Oh yeah F4I works without as many parts to replace. Superbling has a post about that mod called another front end option or something like that.

Re: Question regarding swapping out front end.

Thanks for the help. But i thought the rc 51 would not work since the sterring head bearings are different from the hawk. Atleast that is what my mechanic friend said today. he said the cbr 1000 would be great if i could find a junked one with a good front end. or the 954/929 but i will have to look further into the rc51 thanks

You can use tapered race bearings from the RC that come with the races and fit right in to the steering head of the hawk. The cbr 1000rr has a different stem size I think but don't quote me on that. The reason the RC51 front end is easier is the forks are the same length as the superhawk's so you can mount the clip-ons above the triple and not loose length. Most of the other sportbike inverted forks are about an inch and a half shorter than the SH's forks so you have issues there all of this info is in that link.

I used gsxr1000 forks and brakes with 929/954 triples and various other parts.

Dam straight! I've got Ducati (Showa) 43mm USD's on my bike & the biggest issue I had was the fact that the forks were shorter than the VTR's. I had to push them thru the tripleclamps until they were flush with the top clamp & mount the clip-ons underneath... BIG hassell! Trying to find bars that would not foul the fairing, held my project up for 2 months....
Also make sure the head stem is at least the same length (or longer) than the VTR's. Too short & you won't make them fit.

Re: Question regarding swapping out front end.

I'm currently fitting a CBR1000RR on mine.

I've got all parts; 1000RR complete front end with brake, master cylinder, wheel and front fender, 929 upper triple clamp, 954 lower triple clamp and new bearings. It only miss me the higher clip-ons!! I was planning to use Convertibars but I'm not sure they will clear the fairings Will see...

I will make the front end swap this weekend ( after 4 long months of parts searching and questioning!! ) I'm very impatient and especially, I hope it will work!!!

I will let you know after how it worked! And of course I will make a resume and post some pics
