Operation Anti Vibrator

Figured that would get you Pervs attention.

Since installing Apex bars (no end weights) I've had some significant bar vibrations to deal with....

Long trip coming up in a few days so figured it was time to adapt some end weights.

Rummaged through my spares and came up with two each 265 gram end weights that are elastomere isolated ... IOW the mounting point in the center is isolated from the bulk of the end weight.

The trick will be to make an adapter that attaches the weight at the center to the Apex bars without letting the weight touch the bar itself.

I'll make some split locks like you see in the picture.. but they will be sized to the Apex bars and will have a spud at the end that locks on to and touches only the isolated center mount of the weight.
Step one...make chips

Am I right in saying your making the inner weights inside the tube that the bar end weights thread into on the standard bars? It's so cool that you have the tools to do these sort of things.

Marquez makes all kinds of fancy circles with that shop of his. It's awesome seeing good tools put to use.

The weight itself is the bar end, just like an OEM set up.

looking at 4 different Bar end weights .. Some attach to a rubber isolated mount in the bar.. And some rigidly mount to the bar, but the mount in the weight is rubber isolated.

I am rigidly mounting these to the bar ID as the weight is rubber isolated from the center mount.

That should at least do a good job of changing the frequency to a better one. When I was desperate for less vibes I melted fishing sinker lead and poured it into some thin chrome pipe. Then just drilled a bolt hole and bolted em on.

They were heavy, yeah, but man did that lead deaden every last bit of vibration. Like riding a different bike.

Nice job on the machined bits. Report back how it worked.
