I have those mounts (they were on the bike when I bought it), will any sliders fit on those mounts, or do I have to buy specific sliders?

Thanks. For under $70 I'll give them a try. Let me know when you find a Fox clicker for under $200, but don't tell anyone else.

Got 'em installed

$59? Can't pass that up. Got them installed and they look sturdy. I have been missing perfect ridng weather here, 90 degrees inland and 70 coast.

Riding? Not for the past week. Ripped up 1400' of carpet (who puts carpet in a bathroom?!?) last weekend, filled the roll off dumpster with crap, started new work assignment last monday, and taking care of the kid this weekend. Aghh!

Repeat "Must ride to work, must ride to work, must ride....."

I got some of those T-Rex sliders. They arrived a couple days ago. I haven't installed them. Haven't had time.

Do you have to remove the fairing to get the engine mount bolt out? It sort of looks like you'll have to.

You shouldn't have to remove it but you should at least remove the mounting bolts on the side. If you don't want to risk a mistake remove it but I didn't have to in order to install mine.

Yes that's what they mean, some frome sliders require cutting the fairing because they just come staright out of the mount. These have a bracket that brings the slider up higher to clear the fairing.

Yeah, I have these sliders. I loosened up the fairing and dropped it a little to have easier access to the bolts.

Heres my question however: anybody see any problem with replacing the stock Honda bolts - which are, for some reason, HOLLOW - with solid 12.9 bolts???? (I mean, why would the Honda engineers spec a hollow bolt there? )

I used hardened bolts on mine instead as well, I thought the same thing when I pulled them out.

Hollow bolts actually can be torqued higher than a solid one. They are also lighter. Ever seen a solid driveshaft on a car? Nope. The stress will concentrate in the middle and cause failure quicker. Naval ships also have hollow shafts for the screws for the same reasons.

Gimme about $800 and I'll test mine out for ya! LOL Nah, actually many who've been down that I've heard of recently did not have sliders. Most who have them are usually paranoid enough about the bike and have enough self preservation to keep it off the ground. That's my take on it anyway.

Frame sliders are just that, they protect the frame not the plastics. If you want to protect the plastics get the longest ones you can find and you'll have to do something about getting some for the swing am as well. They do protect the plastic some but the main objective is to save the bike not it's looks. The main thing they try to do is make the bike slide and not flip over, when the bike catches and tumbles that's when it gets fubared.

Frame sliders gone wild

Hey guys thanks for your input, I think I may just have to fab some up. I guess I'm not convinced of what is out there. I feel the relocation bracket needs a gusset. From what I have seen on the market I'm afraid the bracket will bend in toward the bike therefore decreasing the amount of support to provide protection against the ashault grinding your stuff away. We'll see what I can come up with, later!
