New light weight flywheel in the making
Small update
Had an air line reel detonate yesterday in the garage
Spent the better part of the day running around looking for a replacement air hose reel and took some time to update the 1/2 black pipe air run with a new filter.
Anyway..
Got started on the flywheel.
Of note, this is the first one I have had in my hands that did NOT have a factory balancing hole machined in the weight.

Made the first few cuts last night.. will finish up this morning and weigh it.

And we is done

Coming in at 6lb 1/4oz
for a reduction of 1lb 4oz from the starting weight.
I have some ideas on reducing further, but will try them on one of my spares first.
This one gets boxed up in a few minutes and will be on it's way to the owner first thing in the morning.

Eric, You did a great job on my flywheel a while back. I also removed the springs and "extra" gear from the anti-rattle gear to lessen the reciprocating mass a bit more. Didn't really notice a change, but that was 8k miles ago and why not? I kinda' like mechanical noise. Now I'm thinking Titanium bolts for the starter gear as well. Maybe a Titanium retainer nut for the flywheel as well. Is there any weight to be saved on the starter gear?
I just ordered a set of Titanium nuts and bolts for the engine cases, brakes, axles, forks, triple clamp Etc. As they say, "A gram saved is about $100 spent" LOL
