HRC jet kit

my HRC jet kit arrived yesterday (supposed to be one of, if not the, last one of its kind still available). I am looking forward to giving it a go at some point in the future. I am hoping it may help me to get the open airbox tuning correct (will give it another go at some point despite the failed attempt last time; Roger D swears there are significant gains to be had from this set-up (and he of all people should know) so I will do my best to make it work - would be so much easier if I lived in the UK and could just ride my bike up to his shop.......)

cheers

great! what's in it and what do you have to do to install it? Did you get a bunch of directions with it or just the parts?

Just parts. I haven`t even opened yet but from what I know, it comes with two slides (with single lift hole), a series of jets (mostly mains, but also a set of pilots I believe) and two sets of needles (one of which is designed for a ram-air set-up). FWIW, Mike (aka 8541Hawk) is running the "other" needles (ie. non ram-air) in his bike and is familiar with the workings of the kit...

No directions, philosophical wisdom missing. Sounds like a send it to the lab deal. Gonna be interesting, now pray for global warming or are you going the dyno route?

Yeah I still have the e-mails from Bob H. from when I did the initial install of the kit.

Mine came with base line instructions but they were track based and not used on the street.

The main bits are the slides (which can be replicated as explained in the carb thread) and the needles which are very different then any other needles for these bikes.

Yes you should have a set of #48 pilots and that big pile of jets (I believe they are from 140-160)

I'll send you a PM with a "base line" if you like and we can go from there
Just let me know what jets worked best in your old set up.

Thanks Mike,

no rush as the bike is sound asleep, hibernating away in the garage. Not sure when exactly when I`ll get around to playing with these bits but I will be in touch when I do. If you`re open to it, however, you could forward me Bob messages....

cheers

No worries sir..... I'll look for the folder that I have them stashed in but I did find the first e-mail he sent which gives most of the basics.

As I'm in a good mood today.......
Here you go:

Hi Mike,
I do not have all the details documented from the HRC jet kit but I can
tell you what I remember. I do not recommend running the air bleed
plugs. These were used when running without an air filter. Keep the
stock air filter, use the HRC slides and needles. The kit came with two
sets of needles, use the leaner set to start. Jets were about 175F 180R.

That is what I remember...

The rest are more geared to dialing in my set up but I'll look for them.... that's what I get for having too many damn e-mail addresses.....

Thanks Mike. Diversification, while good for managing your investment portfolio, can be impractical for e-mails, lol

cheers

FWIW, I researched the matter (gotta love Google!) and found a place in Germany that still has one (or more) listed. As Fate would have it, they were asking less than what I paid.....

chemomche:
not avaiable, I just posted the picture to show what it contains. My opinion is you don´t need it, there are only needles valuable. You can play with standard, dynojet, or Factory Pro needles for lower price.

You could but they all have different profiles. Also note the HRC ones, by the looks of it, have 5 slots the same as FP, where as Dynojet needles have 6 slots. The most valuable part of the HRC kit is the new diaphram/slides as well.
