Front suspension mod info's / links

Hi guys!

Like many of us seems to be working on the same project: Replace/Upgrade our front suspension! I've think that it could be a good idea to share our information's about this!

So, here a couple of link about the subject, ok ok, this is from a VFR forum but the guys there are also very tricky. Just browse the "suspension" and "check this out" thread, there a lot of pictures and measurements about 929, RC51, GSX1000R and CBR1000RR front end:

Also some information's on Speedzilla forum ( peace to RC996 bike )

Some guide about setting and how to adjust suspension:

Here is also some link for some aftermarket handlebars:

Thus, the thread is start, if any of you have some other good link or info, please share them with us!

CBR 600 F3 forks?

I see lots of info for doing RC51, 929, and 954 fork swaps but what about using 600 F3 fork legs? This should be a pretty simple setup using the same triple trees (both are 41mm legs) and achieving better damping and adjustability. I know doing the other fork swaps gives better stiffness but that seems unnecessary on a street bike that is designed to flex in the first place.

Has anybody done an F3 front end?

The two forks are essentially the same. There is no advantage to the swap, except maybe slightly different spring rates (still progressive though) and slightly different damping.

Prolly a good call, David. They have adjustable compression damping, too, don't they?

No, the F3's do not have compression damping adjustment. They are the same as the VTR forks as far as adjustability is concerned. Swapping F3 forks will gain you nothing.

Ah ha. Well, what makes the F3's different from the F2 forks? Cuz I think the F2 forks were cartridge forks also, better than the stock forks on my Hawk GT.

Nope, only the 94 F2's were cartidge forks, all other years were damping rod type. The 94 F2 suspension is basically the same thing as the F3 stuff.

That's the info I was looking for. I guess it's a Race Tech valve/spring upgrade or all in on a RC51 front end then.
